Grab yourself a paper sheet
Let me show you something neat
Draw two lines from top to bottom
Make them straight, no need to dot them
Put your pen on the first column
Write your worries if you got them
List them all, leave nothing out
Every worry, fear, and doubt
Everything that’s troubling you
Your resentments…list them too!
When you’re done with column one
Move on through to column two
Think of all the time you’re spending
On your worrying and resenting
Estimate what makes you frown
Calculate and write it down
Every moment of regret
Every second that you fret
List it so you won’t forget
But don’t add it up just yet!
Read through columns 2 and 1
Time you spent and what you done
Have you made your inventory?
Then move on to column 3
(Here’s the best part of this story!)
Take a breath, step back, and see
Before death, all you could be
All the time that you spent worrying
Body churning, mind deranged
All your tossing, turning, plotting
Was anything outside you changed?
For this, we should be most sorry
That perhaps our greatest crime
Was to not see all this worry
As a useless waste of time.
